I drew Link a lot as a kid because i loved Ocarina of Time. He was the only thing i ever drew for a long time but as I got older I branched out and drew all sorts of things. Now, 10 years after that intial stick figure, I've come a long way. By no means perfect, but far better than before.
I'd like to talk about how to improve. Not just as an artist but anything. Like the Triforce, there are 3 endlessly repeating forces that empower the holder.
1. Love. A passion for just about anything. I loved Zelda and that manifested itself in me drawing Link a lot. It was inspiration and it pushed me to draw what was on my mind. This love doesn't have to be for a game series, it could be for drawing itself.
Love of Drawing => Draw a Lot
2. Draw a Lot. This is the cliché PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE that so many tutorials rant on about. This step is a billion times easier with a love for drawing, but, you can just start with this step if you are commited. Take for example Piano lessons, you might hate piano but because your parents force you to go every week, you practice a whole lot and you end up getting real good at it.
Draw a Lot => Become Good at Drawing
3. Become Good at Drawing. There are some people who start out here. I personally don't buy that argument but i know for a fact that practice does indeed improve your drawing. Might be slow might be fast. Take it from me 10 years of practice really shows. Once you've made some masterpiece, even if you just traced it and showed it off to your 2nd grade mates, you will begin to love drawing. You will love the power of creation, the sense of a world of imagination in your pencil, the calm empowering thrill of scribbling.
Become Good at Drawing => Love of Drawing
One last thing, how do you actually do it? This complicated cycle of Love drawing leads to Drawing a lot leads to Becoming good leada to Loving it more, all seems great BUT how do i start? How do i keep going? Do i have to draw every dingle day?
Heres the cool bit: When you fail- trust me, you will- You get 2 choices. Continue or Quit. You look at your ugly drawings, comparing them to masterpeices, feeling down on yourself, how are you ever going to be that good? You obviously are lightyears away from your goal manner's well give up, right? The person who thinks this, guess what happens to them? Yup, they never get any better. Now on the other hand, what about the nerds who just keep drawing anyway, even when it looks so ugly and bad? THEY GET REAL GOOD LEMME TELL YA, I KNOW CUZ IM ONE OF EM.
like duh, u keep drawing you'll get good. But in the real world its harder than it seems.
So yeah, LOVE DRAWING, TAKE BREAKS IF YOU BURN OUT, FEEL INSPIRATION, ALWAYS MAKE SCHOOL PROJECTS PRETTY, DONT COMPARE IF IT BRINGS YOU DOWN, FIND SOMEONE TO ENCOURAGE YOU OR BETTER YET BE THE ONE TO GIVE LOVE TO AN ASPIRING ARTIST
PPPEEEACE OUT!!

:sob: Say it louder for the people in the back!
This was so well said. I agree with this 100%. People say "I wish I was good as you. My art sucks." Gurl lemme tell u how I was back then. Hella bad, BUT with practice I got here. Took me 9 years to get here. With a lot of p-r-a-c-t-i-c-e.
By the way, wonderful improvement. Can't wait to see more
:D
Nice! Good progress :ok_hand:
True I wanna draw but always looks like a drunk blind person tried to draw aka its laughably bad.
Awe, but with some good practice you'll get there! ^^
