Meet Doubustu - Mascot Challenge

On this Amino, the Mascot Contest has already gotten loads of submissions. I guess its time for mine.

The goal in this contest for everyone was to somehow make an OC to represent this Amino. Something I wanted to add to my character was representation of the users on here.

Some users on here truly represent the creativity and attitude this Amino promotes. While I had some ideas on who yo represent, I asked you all who you think are the most recognizable and iconic users here.

I had plenty of other things in this Amino I wanted to refrence as well. From the large following of frog lovers, to YAOAH, to the adoptables. I wanted to include these somehow.

Go ahead and grab a snack and get comfortable. This will be a long blog filled with explaining.

Doubutsu

Most Animal Crossing fans might reconise this name. In Japan, Animal Crossing is known as Doubustu No Mori. I felt like this name is fitting as it honors the game itself. This place wouldn't exist without that game obviously.

Axolotl

A while back there was a huge craze with this thing called adoptables. Literally most of the artists on here did at least one. Even I did.

One species that was used often was an Axolotl. Making my character an Axolotl is my nod to that period of this amino.

Lazy

Most people on this Amino relate to the personality Lazy. Even I do.

June 13th

He shares a birthday with own Marie. This is my way of including her into my character.

Many users on this amino are drawers and many contestsvand challenges require drawing as well. Its fitting that the mascot would also be an artist.

From Adam, to Eden and Haru, many people on this Aminio love to do edits. Both for memes and for blogs. If I named every glorious user that was used for inspiration for this dream we would be here forever.

If you have ever been in a chat with our curator Heather then you might notice something. She says 'I'm' a lot. I literally have a gallery in my phone of Heather saying I'm 17 diffrent times. This is only fitting as a catchphrase.

This is Hoodie's (A Leader) favorite song from the game. This is Hoodie's inclusion for this OC. She is the reason for his creepy music taste.

Looks:

Doubustu is a green and tan-ish Axolotl. He sports a red generic shirt and a pair of pants. The most important part of his main outfit is his apron. Since Doubustu is an artist, he is equiped with an apron to protect his clothes from paint, markers, and various other substances. On the apron is a frog's adorable head. I wanted to include a refrence to the frog following on this amino, started by our own Glub.

Later in the blog I do have some alternate outfits.

Personality Continued:

As a lazy personality, Doubutsu has a love for all sorts of food and sleeping. While he is physically lazy, Doubutsu is determined and hard-working when it comes to drawing. when he puts his mind to something, he will complete the task is no time... granted, if he has something to munch on.

Doubutsu is a very giving person. He acts like most lazy villagers, being extremely friendly and laid-back. He doesn't worry about much and casually lives through his life.

Now one thing I wanted to add is alternate costumes for Doubustu to wear. Not everyonr would want to draw the apron he normally wears.

I put together some alternate outfits for my little Axolotl.

Doubustu sports a tan-ish color with green patterns. This is a refrence for the common colors of Animal Crossing.

While the placements of the green have no real refrence, they were placed in a way to be pleasing depending on the outfit while not being hard to draw.

Often people have an outfit for when they are lazy around the house. These are often stretchy or comfy pants and a t-shirt/hoodie.

Doubustu rocks a simple pair of generic pants and official YAOAH merch.

YAOAH is a group/magazine post series made by a group of beloved users. Each founder is placed onto the hoodie itself.

This next outfit is used for simple outside wear. For example, going out to shop.

The outside grey coat was inspired by Mayor Natsuki's outfit. Natsuki is an user who commonly posts and hamg out in chats extremely often and is dedicated to making posts.

The T-Shirt underneath the coat is a classic Kent Legg meme drawn by out beloved Bon.

This is a loved meme that later made into a public sticker pack.
