Hey guys, it’s Twi! Before we start, I just wanted to say I’m sorry for disappearing for so long. I don’t even know how many of you will remember that this fic existed. It turns out, college is an experience that not only leaves you with less free time than you expected, but gives you more things to put time into, and Amino just didn’t happen to be one of those things for me. I’m actually only writing this because I just finished a three heart run of Twilight Princess and got a sudden pang of nostalgia for this old fic. All that being said, I hope you enjoy!
(Also, if you don’t remember anything, please feel free to go back and re-read the other four chapters. They’re all linked in the ULE wiki on my page)
Edit: yooo, look who made it back to the featured page after all these years! Thank youuuu!!!

Normally, when he traveled to Kakariko, Link could make it within a few minutes. But he didn’t feel like running. Or riding.
Instead, he trudged along Hyrule field, holding Epona’s reigns tightly.
For once, the monsters didn’t seem to want to bother him. Perhaps they were empathizing with his poor situation. At least, that was what he hoped.
The Sun was at its peak, bearing down on him, as hot as the fires of Death Mountain. He reached into his bag and pulled out his signature green cap, shoving it onto his head to try and block a bit of the Sun. He had began wearing his Ordon clothing again in an attempt to make the villagers warm back up to him, but it didn’t really help. He would’ve changed back, but the Ordon clothes were surprisingly comfy after all the chainmail and leather, so he just stored his Hero’s Tunic in his pack.
After what felt like an hour, those signature creepy gates came into view. He felt something close to relief, but inside a worry was gnawing at him… What if they hate him now too?
He stood outside the gates, contemplating… then he took a deep breath and walked in. As he made his way into town, he spotted Renado, who greeted him with much cheer, and for the first time in a while, he felt… happy?
With renewed vigor, he strolled into the town, tying Epona’s reigns to a stake.
He walked towards the hotel, hoping to grab some lunch. As he walked, he couldn’t help but notice a distinct lack of Gorons in town. Be tried not to think much of it, but it was still weird. They had been so friendly after he had helped Darbus, and he hadn’t seen the town devoid of Gorons since.
He walked into the hotel, grabbing some salted meat from the shelves and digging in. Goat jerky. He briefly wondered if it was an Ordon goat, then shook his head to try and get the thought out of there. He practically raised those things alongside Fado. He didn’t want to imagine their sweet, dumb faces as he ate, And he especially didn’t want to be thinking of Ordon right now.
After he ate, he walked back out and into the town, looking around and… why does Barnes look so upset?
The familiar cold hand of dread crept up his back again. Did this have to do with him? Was there something else that happened? He gulped and walked over to Barnes.
Barnes stared at him with definite anger in his eyes. Crap, this definitely has something to do with him.
Slowly, cautiously, he made his way up to Barnes, hoping that whatever caused his anger was a big misunderstanding. He stood in front of Barnes, but before he could say anything, Barnes turned fully towards him and…

Barnes reached behind his back, pulling out something that must have been tucked in his waistband, it’s… holy Hylia is that his old wooden sword? The one he gave Talo?
It would seem that, through some Twilight magic, Link had picked up the sword after finding the children’s scent on it, and in some cruel joke, the kind that seemed more and more common to him, it happened to not only get dropped, but not burn to a crisp in the bomb storage house explosion.
Barnes explained that he was going to start reconstruction on the storage house, only to find this, a remnant of Link’s past life, lying among the rubble.
He continued to rebuild, but Barnes is a man who can keep a grudge, and so he’s been waiting for Link to return so he could give him a piece of his mind.
Even though he hated to be on yet another persons bad side, he had to admit this one had a very valid reason.
Eager to attempt to restore peace between them, Link asked what he could do to make it up to him.
There was only one thing Barnes would accept as comeuppance. Ever since he began to rebuild his storage house, the Gorons have rescinded their aid, stating that he had no need of them now that he’s got his ‘big-fancy storage house’ back
Link knew there had to be something more to this than met the eye, so without another word, he turned and made his way over to Epona, where he had also left his stuff.
From within his pack, he pulled out his iron boots, getting the feeling that he would once again need them to reach Death Mountain.
Those suspicions were all but confirmed when he walked up the Kakariko path to Death Mountain and once again saw a Gordon standing sentinel at the top of the wall.
Link sighed, almost unsurprised that his bad luck had followed him even here.
He stretched for a moment, then began the climb,

Well, two and a half years later, there it is. Chapter 4 of Unfortunately Linked Events. Sorry it’s a bit in the shorter side. I’m gonna be honest, I don’t know if I’ll write any more of this.
I started this fic at a time in my life where I felt kinda down, and I didn’t even realize it. I was overwhelmed with finishing school and preparing for college, all the while feeling like I wasn’t good enough, and I think a lot of that manifested in me deciding to write such a sad story.
I’ve gotten better since then, and I’m just not sure that this story really reflects what I’m feeling any more.
Long story short, I may continue this story, but if I don’t? This chapter is probably the last you’ll see of me.
So if I don’t see you… good afternoon, good evening, and good night. Twi, out.

Ayy a TP story!! Just read up, love it so far, you’re such a great writer!! I feel for Link, no doubt he would definitely have a hard time adjusting after everything that’s happened to him in TP :,)
It’s understandable that reinventing yourself irl changes how you feel about the writing. Who knows, maybe you’ll find a way to make those two things align again. After all, a story is anything you want it to be, you can change the rules! ;)
I love this comment :sob: thank you so much!
And yeah, you’ve got a point. I’ll be sure to keep that in mind if I do decide to write more chapters. Thanks again!
OH MY GOODNESS YOU'RE BACK :bangbang: :bangbang: :bangbang: :bangbang: HIIIII :bangbang: CAN'T WAIT TO READ THIS IN THE MORNING :fire: :fire: :boom: :boom: :boom:
